The 17th International Competition for Accordionists Prize “STEFANO BIZZARRI”
REGULATIONS EDITION 2008
Art. 1) Morro D'Oro City council, the Musical Association “Stefano Bizzarri”, the Abruzzo Region and the local Administration of Teramo are organizing The 17th International Competition for Accordionists Prize “STEFANO BIZZARRI”
Art. 2) The musical association “Stefano Bizzarri”, Via G. Marconi 4, Morro D’Oro (TE) is responsible for the artistic, technical and operating organization.
Art. 3) The competition will be held in Morro D’Oro on 24th, 25th, 26th July 2008 and accordionists of any nationality can take part.
SECTIONS AND CATEGORIES
Art. 4) Classical Section

Category A up to 10 years old (those born in 1998 and later)
Category B up to 12 years old (those born in 1996 and later)
Category C up to 14 years old (those born in 1994 and later)
Category D up to 16 years old (those born in 1992 and later)
Category PRIZE (no age limit)

Varietè Section

Category E up to 10 years old (those born in 1998 and later)
Category F up to 12 years old (those born in 1996 and later)
Category G up to 14 years old (those born in 1994 and later)
Category H up to 16 years old (those born in 1992 and later)
Category I (no age limit)
The younger candidates can be play in upper categories.

Bicentenario Section

Category L from 15 to 18 years old Classical section
Category M from 15 to 18 years old Varietè section
PRIZE PERFORMANCES
Art. 5) The performances must last (without compulsory piece): cat. A: 3 minutes; cat. B: 5 minutes; cat. C: 7 minutes; cat. D: 10 minutes; cat. E: 3 minutes; cat. F: 5 minutes; cat. G: 7 minutes; cat. H: 10 minutes; cat. L-M: 12 minutes. The scores for the pieces of their own choice must be presented to the competition secretary’s office and they will be given back to the candidates before the audition. The results will be communicated to the candidates at the end of the audition of each category.
Art. 6) The candidates of PRIZE CATEGORY have to play in the first performance: a compulsory piece; a piece or a program of pieces, of their own choice, which total duration must be 10 minutes. The candidates allowed to the final performance have to play: a compulsory piece; a program of their own choice, coming from different authors, periods and styles, which total duration must be 15 minutes. The scores of the chosen pieces must be delivered to the Prize Secretary’s office and they will be given back to the candidates before the audition.
Art. 7) The candidates of Category I have to play in the first performance: - a compulsory piece; - a piece or a program of pieces, of their own choice, which total duration must be 5 minutes. The candidates allowed to the final performance have to play: a compulsory piece; a program, of their own choice, which total duration must be 10 minutes. The scores of their own chosen pieces must be delivered to the Prize Secretary’s office and will be given back to the candidates before the audition.
Art. 8) Bicentenario section is active only this year.

Art. 9) The auditions, held at the Monumental Church “S. Salvatore” in Morro D’Oro starting at 9.00 a.m., are so fixed:

For list changes, the candidates will be advised by e-mail, mail or on the official website www.premiobizzarri.com The audition playlist is sorted in alphabetical order, starting with a drawn letter. The draw will take place at 19.00 of the day before the auditions at the Prize Secretary’s office. The absents will make a call at the following numbers: 085 8958655-328/6261221-338/6655574 or they will reach our website www.premiobizzarri. com All the auditions are open to the public.
Art. 10) The members of the Board of examiners are not allowed to enrol their students in the competition.
Art. 11) The evaluation of the Board of examiners is defining and final; they also reserve the right to not award the prizes if the requirements don’t correspond to the ones requested. For the categories A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, L, M the Board of Examiners will express the following classifications: First classified: from 95 to 100 points (The higher among the first ones is valued The Absolute First). Second classified: from 90 to 94 points. Third classified: from 80 to 89 points. For the categories PRIZE, I the Board of Examiners will express from 80 to 100 points.
Art. 12) For the categories PRIZE and I the Board of Examiners will allow just 5 candidates to the final performance. (but this numbers of candidates are to considered orientative).
PRICE
Art. 13) The following prizes will be awarded:
 
CLASSICAL AND VARIETE’ SECTION

To the first classified cat. A-E a diploma, a plate and a refund of € 100
To the first classified cat. B-F a diploma, a plate and a refund of € 200;
To the first classified cat. C-G a diploma, a plate and a refund of € 250;
To the first classified cat. D-H a diploma, a plate and a refund of € 300;
To the first classified cat. L-M a diploma, a plate and a refund of € 300;
In case of two first classified the prize will be equally divided. All the first classified candidates will receive a diploma, a plate and a refund of € 100. All the second classified candidates will receive a diploma and a plate. All the third classified candidates will receive a diploma.
To the first classified cat.PRIZE, I a diploma, a plate and a refund of € 1.000
To the second classified cat. PRIZE, I a diploma, a plate and a refund of € 500
To the third classified cat. PRIZE, I a diploma, a plate and a refund of € 250
All the candidates allowed the second performance will receive a diploma and a refund of € 100.


All the candidates will receive a participation certificate. All the teachers will receive a merit certificate. All the candidates and the teachers, who will receive prizes, diplomas and refunds, will have to collect them during the prizing presentations. Prizes will just be given to the presents. All the winners of different categories will be inserted in the CD “The winners of accordion prize Stefano Bizzarri 2008” according to the Art Direction ‘s decision. The eventual audition’s broadcast doesn’t involve any remuneration to the candidates.
Art. 14) The International Prize “Stefano Bizzarri” (a golden, exclusive musical lyre) will be awarded to the best candidate of the Category Prize by the Board of Examiners. The winners of the past editions therefore can’t participate at the following editions.
Art. 15) The prizes “ Città di Morro D’Oro” will be awarded to the best candidates of the Categories I, L and M by the Board of Examiners.
SPECIAL PRIZES
Art. 16) The best candidate for piano accordion will receive a special plate, an honour diploma and a refund of € 200 according to the Board of Examiners’ decision.
Art. 17) “Prize Antonio Bizzarri” to the best performance of a Stefano Bizzarri piece.The best candidate for the compulsory piece will receive a special plate, an honour diploma and a refund of € 200 according to the Board of Examiners’ decision.
Art. 18) The teachers will receive a refund of € 150 for every five candidates enrolled to the competition.

EXCLUSIONS
Art. 20) Applications sent after the expiry date, 30th June 2008, or received without the above requirements won’t be accepted. Applications without the receipt of payment won’t be accepted.
Art. 21) The organization could be restrict the number of candidates or annul one or more categories with few candidates.

Art. 23) All the candidates will be able to receive information about the auditions, prizes, etc. at the Prize Secretary’s Office, which will be available during the whole competition. Board and travel costs are in charge of candidates.
